There is a record of a Thomas Scanlan who served in the 3rd Fot Soldier, 2nd Battalion in Canada in a list covering 1807-1810. He is described as 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 1/2 inches tall, born in Cahir Parish, Tipperary County, lived in Tipperary prior to enlistment, occupation: laborer, enlisted at Galway 7 June 1809. That would make him the right age to be “our” Thomas Scanlan. However “our” Thomas Scanlan lived in England prior to 1825 or later.
