• 1740 - James Hook signed a road petition in Frederick County, MD83
• 26 August 1740 James Hook received from his good friend John Magruder a deed of gift for 150 acres of "Kettankin Bottoms" on the west side of Catoctin Mountain, extending from the mouth of Catoctin Creek south along the Potomac River as far as, and including, Paton Island83 .
